La Perla Tapatia

La Perla Tapatia is a Mexican Folklore Dance Team from Irving Dual Language Elementary School.  Students participating in this activity learn the cultural dances and the symbolizing of the moves and the meaning of the songs which originate in Mexico.  The dance group was founded by retired Irving teacher Dave Lillie and currently coordinated by Maria Guzman.

Many of the Irving families are from Mexico and for them it is a way for their children to learn about their heritage.  For others, it is a way to learn more about Hispanic cultures.

Students currently participating in the group said; "The best part of being in the group is learning the dances, music and making new friends."

Funds raised from this campaign will provide new opportunities for additional students to participate in the dance group.  It will help purchase new dresses, to alter existing dresses and cover the cost associated with the performances.

This form is currently in demo mode.
